My aunt Penny took me sailing at Piddinghoe Lake on her Topper dinghy on my 10th birthday, I really enjoyed it and within a week we had joined my local sailing club.

A few weeks later I was learning to sail in an Optimist before moving on to a Topper.

I first started to race my Topper in 2004 just before my 12th birthday, since then I have gradually worked my up the National rankings and into the RYA Junior and Youth Programs with some notable successes along the way.

After moving into the Laser Radial at youth level I have steadily improved and honed my sailing skills, in 2005 I was 19th in the UK rankings and also finished as the UK`s top junior my best result was to reach the medal race final at the RYA`s inaugural Olympic "SAIL FOR GOLD" regatta in Weymouth beating several of the worlds top Olympic Laser Radial sailors. In 2007 I was 1st under 17 in Europe, 2nd under 17 in the World and 13th overall at the Laser Radial Youth World Championships in Holland and ended my second Radial season at 17th in the UK Senior rankings, competing mostly against full time adult Olympic sailors. At the end of 2007 I moved into the Laser Standard which is the man’s single-handed Olympic dinghy and I now compete at home and abroad against the Worlds best sailors. I have already some success 1n 2008 I was the youngest competitor to qualify for the Senior European Championships ending the event at 61st out of a 150 strong field. I have also had other good results in European graded events during 2008 with a 22nd at "Sail for Gold" in Weymouth and a 9th in Palamos, Spain in December. 2009 has been a very good year so far a Bronze Medal at the RYA Youth Championships, 11th overall and 1st under 19 at the ISAF grade 2 event in Warnemunder Germany, 12th at the European Youth Championships and 2nd Under 19 in Europe.

2011 has been my best year to date, I am one of a handful of sailors under 21 to qualify for the ISAF Senior World Championships in Perth,  I have moved into Worlds top 100 Laser sailors, a member of Team GBR Olympic Developement Squad, I am currently 4th in the UK Senior Rankings and the UK and Europes top under 21 youth sailor and 2nd in the World.
